I did something weird. I submitted in an entry for Ideat Savant at the IIT Kanpur festival 'Anthrakshani '08'' for taking part in a band competition called Synchronicity. It was an online entry which you can find here. I just wanted to see if people would find my music interesting.
Yesterday, I received an e-mail confirming that I was short-listed for the competition. I need to reply within a week to confirm my participation with the details of band members and stuff.
Now, as you all know, I don't have the actual band lined up yet. Jay from Noise Market offered to play for me. But what about the drummer and the second guitarist? If I find them all, what about practice and stuff? Crazy, it is. I feel I should just forfeit this and hope to make it next year. What d'yall say?

Congrats! so u will be going to IITK! have u been there before? wonderful place but the city is bad. IIT seems to be a heaven surrounded by hell. I have been there many times as my brother in law was in IITK as research fellow.
Reema: I don't think I will. I don't have functioning band yet. And besides, they aren't paying for transportation. I don't think that I'm going now anyway. If Noise Market gets a slot, maybe I will reconsider.
Kris, I think it doesn't make sense to try and put a band together given u'd have under 3 weeks at best to practice; even if u play covers (which I'm not sure is being encouraged), u need time to get your act together and gel as a band.
And the money isn't nearly good enough to merit a trip into Kanpur, especially when you've also got your studies to focus on.
P.S. - I am at a loss to understand why u'd rather 'make friendship', u fiend!
@ Stray: I see your point. I guess it's better not to even think of it.
(PS: What the fuck is that about?)
Apart from the fact that you can do neither in a sincere and thorough fashion, band or studying... within three weeks...
I see a pattern here. Procrastination and excuses. After a while it ceases to be understandable. The point has been passed a long time ago already. What needs to be done is being ignored willfully, despite the stakes involved.
Nuff said.
A Well Wisher in NYC
Thankfully, the vote is unanimous. And I Veto, just in case the majority swings later.
@ AWWiNYC: Well, I guess what you want me to do is what is being done. And to make perhaps a soul or two happy - I'm doing very well in my studies.
@ Unsungpsalm: Yeah, I'm not going!
Kris, here's a video (http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=g0G9vDKcdLg) that inspires me to a very great extent.
Not sure if you've seen it before; anyway, its worth a watch again.
I think you should Live your dream(s), bro. There is no better way to live for some of us. :)
Next year sounds a better and a more practical idea. You will have a proper band and not end up making fools of yourselves with a last minute hatched up band!
Good that you are studying hard. Keep it up. Just some more time till Nov., exams done and then you can paaarty all you want :) till the next set ;)
@ Stray: I understand your comment. I didn't quite get the idea of the video though. The 'world' confused me.
@ MyHeadTrip: You are right. And stop being mean! ;)
Talk about dense, mate! :)
I thought it was a pretty in-your-face message - a kiwi gave her all so she could get a feel of what it would be like to take flight.
The song was just a distraction that was mixed into the original video. If you're referring to the word "world" within the song, I suggest you check the lyrics to the song and see if it helps bring about the requisite clarity.
Hey!!! Am not mean...just bugging you to get your studies done :D ;) and I told you I would be doing it :D
