Hope It's Over

I am extremely happy to bring to you something which I consider to be one of the highest forms of expression - a song. I was inspired really by the responses that i got from the 'Hey There Alan' post which somehow re-kindled the song-writer inside me. Hence, after a really long period of about 3 years, I have written a brand new song. It's totally original and you are the the first people to ever hear it. It's called 'Hope It's Over'. The song's lyrics are given below.
Hope It's Over

When did I stop being, what I used to be
Where did I start falling, you weren't looking
What did I start chasing, it feels so long
Whom did I leave stranded, I fell so hard, I felt so low

Was it you, was it me, who knows

When did I stop listening, it was deafening
Where did I stop looking, what lies ahead
What did I start wishing, wish I'd be there now
Whom did I try faking, I tried so hard, I felt so lone

Was it you, was it me, who knows
Was it you, was it me, who knows

The hope that is left, is it too heavy to confess
The hope that is left, it's so easy to forget

Was it you, was it me, who knows
Was it you, was it me, is it over?
All I can say that it's a very sombre confessional which might not suit the style of at least a few. I have been known by my friends to only write very sad, morose music. This really stands by that claim. The lyric is open to interpretation even though the song is based originally on a relationship in my life. Please opine. Please criticise.

And finally the song...

(PS: This is recorded on a regular computer using a microphone intended for voice chatting. The guitar which has been used is not of professional quality and of course, I'm an amateur singer. Well, I thought I'd let you know before you start going overboard.)

Your song is so soothing and sounded to me so jazzy blues ...is it really ROCK ?

I like the song ! You make it sound so American ! LOL

Kris Bass said...

@ Prash: Jazzy? Blues? I thought it was pure grunge. Yeah, I sing in an american accent! A fake one!

Thanks!

The number was good, and showed your talent. What the hell are you doing wasting your life on surgery?
Get into the music scene, dude!

Anyway, rock music would suck with an Indian accent, I think.

Whatever you call it, i Liked it the Alan and this one ! I am not a big rock fan !

Hey, could you tell me more about that rambhai wallah pls ? Is it authentic ? or another spam ?

Kris Bass said...

@ Rambodoc: I'm already into the music scene Rambodoc. Neck deep too. And you are the only person to ever ever say this! Hahaha! Thanks!

Kris Bass said...

@ Prash: Well, sounded genuine to me at first. But haven't tried it. Again, everything's an attempt to save their own asses. I think it's better than SiliconIndia.com anyway!

I did try registering. But something happened. Maybe I should also try once more to see if it works.

Kris Bass said...

@ mirrorcracked: Thank you buddy! I mean, really I'm most surprised by the reaction!

(Why don't you cross post it on your blog to give me a wider audience? ;) )

@ djs: Thank you! You first time here I suppose! Do bother to chip in with a few comments!

@ Duncan Hines: What do you mean 'stick to the song'? And I'm not going to sell it to any desi guys anyway! ;)

@ Duncan Hines: What do you mean at this age, huh? I'm just 28! LOL!

And I ROTFL about the Cake mix!

@ MirrorCracked: I checked your post out. That's the old one about love? Do you mean something that's coming up?

Oh.... MY GOD!
That song touched me in inappropriate places!

I meant, at the heart! It's so fabulous, Kris! Do keep composing if this is what comes forth!

Kris Bass said...

@ Unsungpsalm: In appropriate places? Seriously, I felt bad. ;)

Yes, this is what comes forth... even when I get touched inappropriately. :D

i wrote "in this day and age" as in this "era" --the MTV music video years, ---not your age, that was a total "lost in translation" moment--attach your head ( the one on top of your neck that is!) to that track and then you have a quickie video, and then you might be on to something.

I love the song and your fake accent. Lol! You sing really well. And the song is fabulous. If sad songs are your style, so be it. It suits you. I always end up putting all my frustration into my songs.

How do I cross post it on my blog?

Kris Bass said...

@ Firebolt: Well... Thank you once more! Why don't you post a few of your songs.

Well, for one thing - you can copy the widget by looking up the code (source code).

Otherwise, I think you can go to my Soundclick page and then get a link from there I guess.

Yeah, I agree to the fact that you should make what comes to you.

Nice song and u r a good singer!! nice lyrics too.

Kris Bass said...

@ Reema: Thank you! No one's bothered to comment on the lyrics yet. I expected an infernal wrath actually!

Anonymous said...

Like the lyrics...nice surprise :) Though, honestly you need to train to sing better ;) maybe it is the mike used for voice chatting :D
Loved the song! This from a person who does not prefer rock per se!:)

Kris Bass said...

@ Myheadtrip: Thanks for the comments! I know I need to be trained. :( But I'll try to make myself as better as I can be. The mic is not hampering the singing thing anyway.

I'm just an amateurish singer!
