Who are bloggers anyway? Individuals who want their
Ever since I have been more active here and on Neverlast, I have restarted thinking in terms of who I encounter in my daily life will like what I post. This is what I tweeted earlier.
When you have been blogging for awhile, everyone around you becomes a potential reader.

Although its quite obvious that everyone is promoting their content/themselves in some way or the other, I feel a tad ashamed. Am I being shallow? Does every blogger think this way? I would love to know your answers.

I feel exactly the way you do. I also think abt what ppl would like to read, and how I can say, rant about, or appreciate what I want to while making it appealing to the 'audience'. I think that it becomes our responsibility to do so if we are looking for ppl to come and read our views. And there's nothing wrong with that.
Although it seems a little bit selfish and self-centered, I guess we are trying to communicate our points of view. The reason that I brought this up is that I heard someone say at work that they heard someone else (who I have not interacted with) say that they read my blog. This puts thing in a different perspective. When I joined the company, it was a very small one and several people knew me through my blog because I had submitted it as an example of my writing skills. I haven't heard too many at work talk about it in the last couple of years.
KK, I feel one blogs publicly cos they want to hear from the outside world or wish to get an opinion from people outside their own sphere. People are promoting their blog unabashedly, and it is okay. That is the purpose. For someone like me, I do not post my blog link here there and everywhere nor do I keep my blog private...so a comment every once in a while from a stranger does makes me feel heard. Today, when privacy has gone for a toss, I believe it is fine with whoever is reading your blog - knowingly or unknowingly. But I, personally, would never craft my words to the demands of the reading audience.
I think I have gone through phases - initially, this was a very private blog. Then it caught on and sort of became popular. Then it became harder for me to share my opinion candidly about my own life. I guess now that blogs in general are on the wane, or may be there is too much of them, I feel a little more comfortable sharing the darker aspects of my life.
I am not sure. I used to blog totally anonymously and I wouldn't care much about readers. But now I am learning to write for readers and thus there might be a change in my thought process
Do you have samples of your present work? I have written a couple of articles (primarily based on my blog) on newspapers. I had to get out of my Kris Bass mode and become more user friendly, IYKWIM.
